For new hot mix asphalt tennis courts General instructions New asphalt surfaces shall cure for 14 days prior to application of any surfacing materials. Clean surface of loose dirt, oil, leaves, dust, sand and other debris. The surface shall be flooded. Define and mark any areas holding enough water remaining that is deeper than 2 mm. These areas shall be fixed using the patch mix silica sand and cement as per our directions. Allow to dry thoroughly and cure. This step shall be executed prior to the squeegee application of Acrylic Resurfacer. Application shall proceed only if the surface is dry and clean and the temperature is at least 9° C. Do not apply coatings when the rain is imminent. Contractors must get inspectors approval of the surface before any work begins. Each coat in any system must dry completely before next application Between each coat, inspect the surface. Scrape off excess material (lumps), ridges and broom or blow off loose mater. Patching mix – for use in cracks, holes, depressions and imperfections. Acrylic resurfacer - for use as filler for new or existing asphalt surfaces. This material can be mixed with silica sand at the job site Sporturf cushion – A rubber-filled material used to build depth, density and resilience. Sporturf acrylic II – A silica sand mix with acrylic color to give texture Sporturf acrylic I – for use as the finish color Line paint – for use as the line paint on the court. Application Procedure
Using a rubber bladed squeegee apply:
Filler course: Two coats of Sporturf Acrylic Resurfacer mixed with silica sand and potable water according to our specs. Use 50-70 mesh silica sand. The quantity of sand and water to the mix may be adjusted depending on the temperature of the surface. Cushion Underlayment: Apply four coats of Sporturf cushion diluted (blended with a mechanical mixer to a uniform consistency) two parts concentrated material to one part of clean water. Allow each application to dry thoroughly. Sporturf Cushion shall be applied to obtain an average of at least 600 -700gr/m2 material per application.
Acrylic Color system: a. Apply two coats of Sporturf acrylic II (textured color ) diluted (blended in a mechanical mixer to a uniform consistency) two parts of concentrated material to one part clean water. Sporturf acrylic II shall be applied to obtain an average of at least 300 gr/m2 material per application. b. Apply one coat of sporturf acrylic I (color to be designed by the owner) diluted (blended with a mechanical mixer to a uniform consistency) two parts concentrated material to one part of clean water. Sporturf acrylic I shall be applied to obtain an average of at least 180 gr/m2 material per application. We recommend a roller application. Line Painting All lines are to be applied by painting between masking tape with a paintbrush or a roller according with ASBA and USTA specifications. Paint lines with Sporturf colour I or Sporturf color II (textured) line paint. When lines dry, remove masking tape immediately. Completion Remove all construction debris, surplus material etc. and leave the site in a condition acceptable to the owner. |
